Purchasing jeans in the correct size is the key to add style and comfort to your outdoor attire.
Of all the different types of jeans available, skinny jeans seem to be the most popular. Available in versatile colors, including light blue, dark blue, and black, these jeans are extremely popular among youngsters, as they look great and give a feeling of elegance. Skinny jeans have emerged as the trendiest of all collections, and definitely are worth the cost. Pair your skinny jeans with a t-shirt and you are sure to look chic.
Skinny jeans, the latest fashion trend for every season, are designed to fit the waist and thighs to perfection. They are slightly tighter on the waist, and at the same time flatten the stomach and shape your buttocks to give you that thin look. However, in recent years health concerns have been raised over wearing this slim fit attire.

Yes, of course! Wearing something that is too tight will always be a cause for concern. Skinny jeans are tight-fitting and may be responsible for causing nerve damage. According to Karen Boyle, a surgeon at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (USA), skinny jeans may trigger meralgia paresthetica, a condition that squeezes the nerve that passes through the outer region of the thigh, leading to numbness, burning, and tingling sensations.
Skinny jeans are believed to inflict constant pressure on the nerves, which may lead to what is known as the tingling thigh syndrome. Too tight jeans, that are more often worn by women, increase the risk of meralgia paresthetica. People who wear ultra-tight skinny jeans tend to experience an unusual tingly feeling that moves up and down along the thighs. All these are symptoms of nerve damage. Repeated compression of the nerve may cause permanent damage.
Physical therapists opine that the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh plays a crucial role in providing sensation to the upper and lower limb of the leg. Hence, encasing your legs in tight jeans can pinch the lateral cutaneous nerve, giving your upper and lower leg a floating sensation while walking. It gives a feeling of the legs not being present in the body. Apart from this weird sensation, the person may experience weakness in the thighs.
Woman Backache
Neurologists too assert that flaunting skinny jeans puts excessive pressure on the lateral cutaneous nerve, leading to tingling thigh syndrome. Besides causing tingly thighs, it is believed that donning a pair of skinny jeans may cause abdominal discomfort, blood clots, heartburn, and lower back pain.
Wearing skinny jeans and complaining about the thighs becoming numb is indicative of the thighs being deprived of adequate blood circulation. So, wearing something at the cost of nerve damage is certainly unacceptable. Moreover, if you are ignoring the discomfort, it may eventually trigger irreparable damage to the nerve.
High Heels
This problem of skinny jeans is compounded if you are also wearing high heels. This is because the habit of wearing high heels can also make you susceptible to nerve damage, bunions, and hammertoes. High heels generate an abnormal pelvic tilt, which may lead to muscular discomfort in the pelvis.

The best way to prevent the nerve from getting compressed is to wear stretch jeans. In order to reduce pain associated with tingly thighs, go for jeans that impart a certain amount of stretch to the fabric. Opting for skinny jeans that come with an elastic waistband is the need of the hour. Wearing looser jeans can also help to get rid of tingling pain in the legs. In simple words, there is no harm in wearing skinny jeans, but if it is too tight, you need to discard it immediately.
All in all, you may be a jean freak, but make sure to buy proper fitting jeans that you can flaunt without worrying about pain or numbness in the legs.
